Water Traffic System for World EXPO

Water traffic system---Enter the World Expo Site directly via water buses through “Water Gates”

The paths along the Huangpu River are all major traffic roads; the resource of space is so limited. Water transportation lines will not only lessen ground traffic burden by taking charge of about 10% of passenger flows, but also provide opportunities for the visitors to enjoy the beautiful sights on the Huangpu River before entering the Expo Site.

If you choose arrive at World Expo Site by water transportation, you’ll meet the “Water Gates”. The organizers have decided to plan according to the mode of “7+3”, dividing the “Water Gates” into two parts: inside the Expo Site and outside the Expo Site. Outside the Expo there are seven Water Gates, including Ningguo Road, Northern Bund, Shiliupu, Qichangzhan, Lujiazui, Dongchang Road, Nanpu Station.

After visitors finish the security and tickets check at “Water Gates”, they will enter the World Expo Site via water buses directly; there are three water gates inside the site, two in Pudong and one in Puxi, the main use of them is connecting the two sides of river and offer the water transportation. The “Water Gates” are not ordinary ferries, parking lots will be available near the “Water Gates” outside the Expo site, buses will also be provided, and all the facilities will make visitors more convenient in entering and exiting.
